Dr. Algrain earned his BSME and
MSEE degrees from Wright State
University, as well as a PhD in
electrical engineering from the
Illinois Institute of Technology. He
joined Caterpillar in 1997 and has
been responsible for emergency
power system analysis and design
for critical operations—like data
centers and healthcare—as well as
integration of distributed generation
to the bulk electric power systems
integration initiatives, generator
set control system developments,
and new technology applications.
Dr. Algrain has over 35 scientific
publications and holds 21 patents.
He’s also a senior member of IEEE
and held committee leadership
positions in the development
of IEEE Standard 1547 for the
interconnection of distributed
energy resources.
