Bio
Kent Lawson brings over 20 years of experience in consumer experience and human-centered design to BlueCross BlueShield Association where he currently leads the Consumer Experience (CX) team.

Prior to joining the Association, Kent worked in health+fintech for a number of healthcare start-ups including DocentHealth, Trellis Rx, ZestHealth and Yaro (recently sold to Virgin Pulse). Prior to that, Kent was Head of Global Innovation with AbbVie, a top-tier bio-pharmaceutical company. While at AbbVie, Kent created a patient-centered culture of innovation across the global organization, and helped cross-functional brand, pipeline and R&D teams understand their stakeholders in entirely new and different, patient-centered ways.

Prior to AbbVie, Kent served as the Global Health and Wellness Practice Lead at IDEO—the world’s leading design and innovation consulting firm--where he built the business and led teams to deliver breakthroughs and business impact in all sectors of healthcare and wellness.

Kent holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has taught design thinking, industrial design and sustainability at Cornell University, University of Illinois-Chicago and ARCHEWORKS—a graduate level alternative design school. Kent is also the founder of OakFolk, a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to preserving and restoring oak savannah ecosystems in Lake County, Illinois where he lives with his amazing wife, four kids, three dogs, five chickens and one bearded dragon.
