Charu is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Restorative Practices Leadership Coach with extensive experience working with adults, teens, and children in the Chicago area. Charu implements trauma-centered and trauma-informed care, with strengths-based integrative approach to treatment, including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused, and family systems therapy at her own private practice.
At the Office of Social and Emotional Learning, Chicago Public Schools, Charu has provided restorative practices leadership coaching to the schools' Restorative Practices leadership teams for the last seven years. Charu started as a clinician supporting the Neighborhood Recovery Initiative – School-Based Counseling (NRI-SBC) Program with Chicago Public Schools 13 years ago. After a couple of years, Charu became a Project Coordinator and Restorative Practices Coach. Charu’s focus within Chicago Public Schools has been on coaching staff to develop restorative mindsets, language, and implement strategies to build relationships and repair harm, and eventually develop RP Leadership skills to implement schoolwide restorative practices in collaboration with the school community.
