Since 2005, Edward Jones principal J R Lawless has been helping individual investors in and around Columbia, Mo., identify and work toward achieving their financial goals. He also leads Region 270, fostering the health, growth and leadership
development of more than 60 branch teams in central and northern Missouri.

Before being asked to serve as a regional leader in 2012, J R held numerous regional leadership roles, including performance leader, growth leader and secondary growth leader. A native of Marshall, Mo., J R graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., and earned an MBA in finance and entrepreneurship from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. He also holds the CFP® and AAMS® professional designations.
Before joining Edward Jones, J R was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and a deputy program manager for the Korean F-16 Fighter Program. He is a member of Columbia Rotary South and the Mid Missouri Retired Military Officers Association and serves on the Missouri MOST 529 Board.
