Bio
Oliver Meisenberg is head of the Internal Monitoring Workgroup at the Federal Office for Radiation Projection (BfS), Germany. He graduated in physics from the Technical University of Munich with a focus on radiation protection, medical physics and nuclear engineering. From 2006 to 2014 he was employed at the Experimental Radioecology Workgroup at Helmholtz Munich, where he measured and modelled the properties of natural and artificial radionuclides in the environment and in homes. From 2014 to 2019 he was the head of the internal monitoring service at the BfS office in Neuherberg (Munich). Subsequently he became the head of the workgroup, which runs two internal monitoring services and offers international in-vivo and in-vitro interlaboratory comparisons on a regular basis. His scientific focus is on the development of new methods in internal monitoring, the assessment of internal radiation exposure in the public, and the preparation for radiological accidents.
