Erica Albertson, Head of eDiscovery Solutions, joined Simmons & Simmons in 2016. She is an eDiscovery professional with over 16 years of experience at international law firms and service providers in the United States, Belgium and the UK.
After more than a decade of hands-on project management experience, Erica now focuses on advising clients on the use of technology for complex investigations and disclosure exercises. Erica has led the eDiscovery Solutions department at Simmons & Simmons to become one of the most technologically advanced and creative eDiscovery teams in the UK. Her understanding of machine learning, and years of experience with technology assisted review (TAR) and continuous active learning (CAL), enables Simmons to utilise these technologies in clever and imaginative ways, creating significant time and cost efficiencies in the most complex of matters.
Her recent work includes running the TAR project for the Tchenguiz & others vs Grant Thornton UK LLP & others – a landmark judgement in that it was the first case in which the High Court confirmed that its approval was not required before using technology assisted review. She has also worked on the development of Simmons & Simmons’s DSAR Toolkit to assist clients with the ever-increasing demand from Data Subject Access Requests.
