Chernise is the founder of Proof Bakery, her second business and a social enterprise which trains and employs refugee women through artisan baking. Since starting in 2018, 9 out of 12 Proof training graduates have gone on to further education or employment. In 2020 the team pivoted the business model, so that the bakery has thrived through lockdown. They have just employed another 2 graduates from their recent training cohort. In her spare time, Chernise enjoys pickling various vegetables, playing badminton, and discussing which part of the UK to rewild with her husband Sam.
