After spending the better part of twenty years in the business world, and after being trained, my employees needed to be motivated differently as no two are the same. I witnessed my children, and foster children, also motivated by different things, being treated the same in school regardless of age and grade. I decided it was time to make a difference and get my teaching certificate to educate students in a stimulating learning environment. I strived to create an atmosphere where students were able to meet their full potential in the classroom. They were encouraged to create and test hypotheses, share ideas, and take risks in their learning to enhance their school experience. My experience included running the Academy of Finance at John Marshall High School and helping students to complete internships with Banc First and Tinker Federal Credit Union. As a career and technology educator, I helped all my students explore career and college opportunities. My passion lies in college and career readiness or career technical education. Students should graduate high school with the ability and skills necessary to transition into the workforce or post-secondary education. This includes the ability to understand and pay their bills and handle their finances. The ability to develop confidence and make informed financial decisions that align with their goals and values is imperative. I hope to help students effectively use financial skills to budget, manage, and invest in their future.
