Kate Vivanco has a Masters in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University and a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Catholic University. Her undergraduate degree is from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Kate began her social work career in a bilingual clinic in Washington, DC and then at Family Centers in Stamford, CT. Kate has been in private practice for 12 years. She works with adolescents and adults. Particular areas of strength for Kate include adolescent development and identity formation, adult development, parent guidance, postpartum stress/depression, anxiety disorders, sexual assault trauma and trauma related to transnational migration. In recent years, Kate has begun using EMDR to treat PTSD and other symptoms related to trauma, but her approach remains eclectic, drawing on psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness and other techniques, always with a human development perspective in mind. Kate is a fluent Spanish speaker.
