Sharad Kumar
Paralympic High Jumper
Sharad Kumar is a para high jumper who represented India at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. He made his international debut in 2010 and qualified for the London 2012 Paralympic Games in January of 2012. By April of 2012, Sharad was the World’s best para high jumper at the age of 19. However, he was unable to compete at the Paralympic Games after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. Sharad presented a contaminated supplement case at a series of hearings but was unable to provide sufficient proof to avoid the two-year ban. He made a comeback at the 2014 Para Asian Games, where he won gold and regained the world no. 1 spot. Sharad subsequently participated in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games where he finished sixth. He is currently living and training in Ukraine in preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
