Jeremy Kamil, PhD

Jeremy Kamil is an associate professor of microbiology and immunology at the Louisiana State University Health Shreveport. He received a PhD in microbiology from the University of California, Davis and postdoctoral training from Cornell University and the Harvard Medical School. Kamil’s research focuses on how cytomegalovirus regulates its behavior during infection, and identifying the host-virus interactions and gene expression changes between different cell types that are needed for the virus to spread within the human body and the population. Kamil incorporates viral molecular genetics and pharmacological techniques to address questions pertinent to these themes.
