Lt Col Marie T. Harnly is the Commander of the 316th Civil Engineer Squadron, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. She leads 500 military and civilian personnel to plan, construct, operate, and maintain 6.7 billion dollars of real property. Her unit provides infrastructure support to five wings, three headquarters, 84 tenant organizations, and the world's highest visibility flight line. She also provides explosive ordnance disposal, fire protection, environmental protection, and housing services to approximately 65,000 personnel. Prior to this assignment, Lt Col Harnly served as the Director of Special Projects for the White House Situation Room. She led a team of 700 contractors and federal government personnel overseeing the 80 million dollar renovations of the Situation Room and its alternate location. Lt Col Harnly earned her commission through Air Force ROTC at Stanford University. She also earned master’s degrees from Harvard University, the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, and the Air Force Institute of Technology. She has served in a variety of leadership positions at the squadron, group, wing, and Headquarters Air Force levels, to include as the Aide-de-Camp for the 20th and 21st Chiefs of Staff of the Air Force and the Commander of the 39th Civil Engineer Squadron at Incirlik AB, Türkiye.
