Yogi Amin is a Partner at Irwin Mitchell and the National Head of Public Law & Human Rights, with over 23 years’ specialist experience. He leads a national legal team advising and representing clients in complex public law, human rights and Court of Protection matters, including medical treatment and mental capacity disputes. Yogi is regularly instructed in the High Court and frequently appointed as an Accredited Legal Representative for individuals whose capacity, welfare or deprivation of liberty is before the court. His work spans civil liberties, judicial review, education law, access to healthcare and social care, and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
Throughout his career, Yogi has acted in influential cases, including the law on end of life in matters before the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, contributing to changes in policy and practice. He is a former Social Welfare Lawyer of the Year and has held significant governance roles, including trustee positions with the Independent Living Fund and Mencap.
