Kameron Duncan, 19, is the 2020 CAPMT Honors State Winner in Category D. He studies with Irina Morgan of Almaden, CA, and Prof. Wei-Yi Yang at Yale University, where he is currently in his first year studying music and applied science. He has performed in local, state, and international competitions including the Rosario Marciano International Piano Competition, U.S. Open Music Competition, and previous CAPMT Honors Competitions. Kameron has played in masterclasses with distinguished pianists including John Perry, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, and Keith Porter-Snell, and has attended festivals including the Oberlin Piano Festival, Vienna International Pianists Academy, and the Curtis Summerfest Young Artist Summer Program. A highlight of his musical studies is his performance of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Golden State Youth Symphony. He is a National YoungArts Foundation Winner and former MTAC Certificate of Merit Panels Finalist.
In addition to solo music, Kameron is an enthusiastic chamber musician and accompanist, accompanying the children’s opera, “Chip and His Dog” in 2016. He has studied chamber music with Gene Chang and Jonathan Koh at the California Music Prep Academy. In addition to playing the piano, he sang with Vivace Youth Chorus for 9 years, appeared in 6 professional operas with Opera San Jose, and performed in 2 international choral festivals.
