Prof. Dr. Ing. Wolfgang Boos, MBA, studied mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen University after completing his training as a toolmaker specializing in stamping and forming technology.
After completing his studies, he received his doctorate at the machine tool laboratory (WZL) with distinction and became the managing senior engineer of the chair for production systematics at the WZL. He has been an adjunct professor there since 2018 and in this position founded the WZL Aachen PS GmbH and, together with Prof. Günther Schuh, the WBA Aachener Werkzeugbau Akademie GmbH. As its managing partner, he supports the toolmaking industry on the way from traditional to industrial toolmaking with regard to the networking of systems, the digitization of processes and the use of new technologies. In his function as deputy head of the production technology cluster on the RWTH Aachen campus, he is working on the further development of the Internet of Production (IoP) and is thus striving for a production turnaround.
This is preceded by the vision of creating resilient companies with agile and sustainable production.
