Sima Ruparelia

Chief Actuary, UK, EMEA, Global Specialty at AIG

Sima is a senior qualified General Insurance Actuary with strong
commercial acumen. She has extensive Pricing, Reserving and Capital
experience across a number of large multi-national insurers and a big 4
consulting firm. At AIG, she is responsible for pricing and reserving
across the UK, EMEA, Global Specialty and Talbot businesses totalling
$8.6bn net written premiums.

Sima is a core contributor to the decision-making that defines product
underwriting strategy and profitability initiatives. She has implemented
an MI framework that enables the business to track progress toward
these which has been extended across the international business. In
addition to underwriting strategy Sima also focusses on underwriting
operations as executive sponsor for the integration of AIG UK & Europe
Underwriting processes into a single Digital Workflow tool across
products.

In her previous role at XL Catlin, Sima was responsible for $5bn of net
reserves and Insurance Risk and was a member of Group Reserving
Committee, Board and Audit Committee. Sima led Ernst & Young’s
pricing proposition where she achieved highest sales and growth by a
Senior Manager in the team.

Sima was named in the 2020 Insurance Business Global 100. This
highlights the very best leaders in the industry who are making a real
difference in the market. In 2018, Sima was named an honoree of the
‘Women to Watch EMEA’ award recognizing women leaders doing
outstanding work in risk management and commercial insurance. Sima
has since joined the Board of this foundation.
