Awards received: Robert W. Saunders’ Library’s Lamp of Knowledge Award, Daughters of the Union 1861-1865 Civil War Remembrance Award, Sumter County Community Hero Award, FAAE Statewide Business Leader award, and DAR National Historic Preservation Award for her work of preserving Royal’s history, one of Florida’s Oldest African American Communities. Steele is an author, a direct descendant of one of Royal’s Founding families, and a FAMU Graduate.
