Assistant Center Director – Agriculture and Prepared Products
Bio
Mr. Michael Maricich is currently the Assistant Center Director (ACD) for Partnership, of the Agriculture and Prepared Products (APP) Center of Excellence and Expertise (CEE). Mr. Maricich is stationed in San Diego California. The APP Center’s main office is located in Miami Florida but has scores of employees strategically located around the country. Before accepting the APP ACD position in early 2016, he served as the Partnership Branch Chief of the Automotive and Aerospace Center. Before that assignment, Mr. Maricich was a Supervisory National Account Manager (NAM) in Long Beach California. Mr. Maricich took that position in February 2009. Many of his current responsibilities with the APP CEE have carried over from his position as a Branch Chief and Supervisory NAM. Currently he supervises two NAMs in the APP CEE and three first line CEE Supervisors. As an ACD of Partnership, Mr. Maricich and the entire Partnership Division, build professional relationships with trusted accounts in order to assist them in their trade compliance efforts.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Maricich spent 7 years at CBP Headquarters in Washington DC. From 2002 to March 2008 Mr. Maricich worked on the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Project. He was the Account Management Team Lead for ACE Releases 2, 3, and 4 and then the Entry Summary and Account Revenue Branch Chief for Accounts and Revenue. Mr. Maricich accepted an International Trade Liaison position in CBP’s Office of Trade Relations in early 2008. In this position, and while on ACE, Mr. Maricich had extensive, productive interactions with the trade community.
Mr. Maricich began his CBP career in 1992 as an Import Specialist at the port of Otay Mesa California. He became a Field National Import Specialist (FNIS) while working at Otay Mesa. During the years he worked in Otay, he traveled extensively for CBP into Mexico to conduct NAFTA verifications and also to Macau and Hong Kong to conduct textile production verifications. Mr. Maricich graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in History.
