Bio
Melvin Byrne has a distinguished background in the fire service. He began his journey as a volunteer firefighter and EMT in 1974 with the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Rescue Department. Over the years, he held various leadership roles, including President, Assistant Chief, and Chief, and served on the County Fire Commission. His professional career extended to Loudoun County Fire Rescue, the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He is also a contract instructor for the National Fire Academy.
Melvin is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program and holds a master’s degree in Fire and Emergency Management Administration from Oklahoma State University. His dedication to public service and fire safety has been a hallmark of his career.
