As President and Executive Director, Dean acts as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) managing the tasks associated with running the organization. This includes coordinating, assisting, and monitoring all standards committees and their programs, as well as executing operational activities such as finance /budget planning, system tools roadmap, membership support/growth and acting as liaison to other consortia or organizations.
Dean has an extensive history with VITA going back to 2004 when he began participating in VITA as Technical Editor of the VITA 46 VPX working group while at Mercury Systems. In 2011, the membership elected Dean as Chairman of the VITA Standards Organization (VSO) where he leads the bi-monthly standards meetings and guides the working groups through the standards development process. Dean joined VITA as VP and Assistant Executive Director in March 2021 and has spent 10 months getting acquainted with the business management tools and processes. This new role will allow Dean to leverage over three decades of leadership in the Aerospace and Defense industry to advance the development, publication, and adoption of next generation leading edge standards. Products designed to these open standards include critical embedded computing architectures providing advanced real-time processing for systems ranging from medical imaging to space launch control, semiconductor processing to defense.
Dean has utilized his extensive experience to unite A&D competitors, producers and end users in the successful development of the next generation interoperability standards to enable future system designs.
