Bio
Dr. O’Brien obtained her PhD in maternal and child health in the United Kingdom and relocated to the United States to train in pediatric sleep research. She joined the faculty of the University of Michigan in 2006 and her research focuses on the impact of sleep disruption – and its treatment – on pregnant women. One of her specific interests is how maternal sleep plays a role in fetal wellbeing. Dr. O’Brien leads multiple studies in this area and is involved in several international collaborations. She has published over 100 manuscripts and written many book chapters.
