Bio
Daniela Bezdan is a research associate at the University of Tübingen and a scientist and consultant on next generation sequencing consortium projects, such as Germany’s COVID-19 task force, NASA GeneLab’s microbiome group, and MetaSub – an urban microbiome project at Cornell University. Bezdan studied gene regulation processes using next generation sequencing during her masters’ studies at EMBL in Heidelberg and her PhD at the Max-Plank Institute in Tübingen. During her postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Diego with Bernhard Palsson, she studied bacterial adaptation processes from a system biology perspective. Since then, Bezdan’s work focuses on monitoring disease outbreaks and their origin, evolution, and adaptation with human populations using metagenomics.
