Bio
I was raised to Master Mason in 1999 at Joseph Summers Lodge #173, right as I was graduating from West Virginia University. I had several jobs out of college, and visited a few lodges as I moved around, but never landed at a lodge in my travels. LaRae and I got married in 2003 and the whirlwind of careers and raising our 4 wonderful children dominated our time. In 2018, I came to the conclusion that my Masonic sabbatical had to end, and it was time to get involved again. I started visiting Palestine #158 in Marysville, Ohio. We had been in town a few years at that point, and knew some folks through kids activities, but I was ready to find my brothers again. The next thing I knew it’s 2024 and I am being installed as Master of the Lodge.
Since childhood, I watched the Shriners parade and knowing what their philanthropy could do, this had always been a goal of mine, so I joined in 2019 right as I got back to lodge. This experience did not disappoint, from the hot sands Ceremonial, being president of the local shrine club, even handling tons (literally) of cans that we collect to raise money for our hospital donations. This is an excellent opportunity to say “Thank you” to my family. My kids forgive when I have to miss an occasional event and my wife LaRae has been involved in a lot of Shrine/Lodge events, and is always willing to help with the aforementioned tons of cans. I could not be more blessed with my friends, family and my fraternities.
I hope you’ll join me for my talk about authenticity and how we can strengthen our organizations by putting forth a sincere effort. I look forward to talking to you about your experiences and ideas.
