Jamal Andress is a cable TV reporter in the Chicago area covering local, national and international stories. His storytelling has taken him all the way to Accra, Ghana to cover international education and back again to Chicago's southwest side to report on the shooting of Laquan McDonald and the subsequent trial of Jason Van Dyke.
As a journalist, Jamal's passion lies in bringing marginalized communities' stories to the forefront. Over the course of Jamal's career he's managed to gain experience in several mediums — television, print and online. Lately, he's focused his attention on producing in-depth, documentary-style videos that resonate across platforms. In one of his most memorable interviews, Jamal went to Charlottesville, Virginia, and spoke with Susan Bro, whose daughter Heather Heyer was killed during a white supremacist rally.
Jamal Andress was born and raised in Houston, TX and graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in 2012.
