Prior to his role as the Director Forest Systems at Rayonier, Cristian has managed teams in forest modeling, remote sensing, digital soil mapping, silviculture, tree breeding, and nursery development. His career includes extensive work with Arauco, the University of Georgia, the Plantation Management Research Cooperative and World Bank. Some of his latest projects have focused on combining traditional forest modeling with artificial intelligence. He has a Master of Sciences in Forestry and a PhD in Forestry and Natural Resources with an emphasis in biomathematics and growth modeling. Cristian has contributed to more than 60 peer-reviewed publications covering topics like forest modeling, spatial forest health modeling, silviculture, forest nutrition, lidar, and biometrics.
