Gary has been a Civil Servant since 2004, working across many different sectors: Self-Assessment, VAT, Corporation Tax, Brexit, Borders and Trade, Cabinet Office and now Making Tax Digital (MTD). Gary is currently the Grade 7 MTD External Stakeholder lead for Business Customers, Voluntary and Community Sector and Landlords, being accountable for delivering MTD Change Readiness function and activities, including stakeholder engagement and planning/delivering wider MTD education to proactively engage with stakeholders and customers to ensure they receive everything they need to prepare for and operate MTD changes from April 2026, and ongoing for later mandation periods.
