Vice President and Head of Strategic Data and Digital, Novartis US Oncology
As vice president & Head of Strategic Data & Digital Oncology US, Belen Fraile leads the data analytics and digital strategy across both commercial and medical organizations, including customer experience for healthcare providers, payers, pharmacists, patients, and caregivers across all channels. In this role, she is responsible for evaluating and enhancing Novartis digital engagement and customer service innovative models that keep the US Oncology organization at the forefront of customer-centricity & healthcare innovation.
Prior to joining Novartis, Belen served as vice president of Population Health Management and Analytics at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. In her dual role managing the Population Health Management portfolio and overseeing Analytics across the institute, Belen was responsible for designing the strategic payer program portfolio to provide recommendations for implementation of alternative and mixed models, including but not limited to Oncology ACO, and Value-based pricing initiatives. The strategy encompasses physician-based and hospital-based models as well as strategies applicable to oncology services to be able to leverage them for Value-based and risk contracts with Medicare and private payers. In addition she redesigned, built and implemented the data & analytics strategy for Dana Farber and shaped the collaboration ecosystem between enabling stakeholders, including Mass General Brigham (formally Partners Healthcare System).
In addition to her role in Dana Farber, Belen played a critical role for the Alliance of Dedicated Cancer Centers, that includes other leading comprehensive cancer centers as MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan Kettering, leading core initiatives across several Steering Committees including Value, Strategy and Analytics.
Belen began her career as an attending physician at the Hospital Doce de Octubre – Dept. of Gynecology & Obstetrics in Madrid, Spain; and has served as a principal investigator on several oncology studies measuring value and variations of cancer care.
In addition to her role at Novartis, Belen currently serves as an advisory to several organizations including the Advisory Council for Alternative Payment Models and lectures healthcare innovation at Harvard School of Public Health graduate and Executive Education portfolio.
Belen holds a Master of Health Care Management (MS) from Harvard School of Public Health and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Madrid’s Complutense University School of Medicine.
