Ms Motaung has recently earned her Master of Science in Agriculture and holds BTech
qualifications in Biotechnology and Quality Management. She is a Quality
Assurance Officer in the Bacteriology and Zoonotic Diseases laboratories at the
Agricultural Research Council-Onderstepoort Veterinary Research (ARC-OVR),
where she works in the Diagnostic Services (DS) and Public Health and Zoonoses
divisions. Her role over the last 12 years has been to ensure compliance through the
development and implementation of the management system and maintenance of
accreditation status in the seven laboratories (Bacteriology, Microbiology, BSE,
Rabies, TB, Bacterial Serology, and Bacterial PCR). Ms. Motaung was recently
appointed as the Acting Quality Assurance Manager for the ARC-OVR, overseeing the
institute's quality management system maintenance and implementation. Ms.
Motaung is a SANAS Team Leader and Technical Assessor for Veterinary and Testing
Laboratories. Her role is to assess and ensure that South African veterinary and
testing laboratories meet ISO requirements such as ISO 17025, ISO 19011. She is a
member of the ARC-OVR Biosafety and Biosecurity Committee and a technical expert
for the International Atomic Energy Agency-Zoonotic Disease Integrated Action (IAEAZODIAC)
Bio-risk management, which assists countries in preventing pandemics
caused by bacteria, parasites, fungi, or viruses that originate in animals and can be
transmitted to humans. She lives by Maya Angelou's motivational quote: "Every great
