Kathy’s career has taken her to 3 continents to work as home economist, teacher, dietitian and public health nutritionist. She was educated in Canada to degree level in Home Economics and Masters level in Public Health Nutrition. She worked as a Home Economist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food in Canada, as a secondary school teacher in Zambia and Botswana and a Public Health Nutritionist in Nova Scotia Canada. Her work in the UK in Scotland and England has been until recently a combination of community and public health nutrition in the NHS combined with a variety of projects within public e.g. work with Children's centres; and private sector organisations as a freelance dietitian. She left the NHS through choice in 2006 to do full time freelance work. Her experience includes needs assessment and programme planning, nutrition education using community development approach with groups and individuals, training health professionals and lay personnel, resource development, writing for professional and lay press, speaker for different settings. Her passion is the importance of healthy eating and activity to prevent long-term health problems.
