Since October 2015, Mr. McGurk has served as the Director for the Center of Excellence and Expertise for Petroleum, Natural Gas, & Minerals (PNGM) with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The Center processes all post-release transactions for the petroleum industry and serves as a central point of contact for inquiries and resolution of issues regarding imports.
For the past 32 years, Mr. McGurk has served U. S. Customs and CBP at the federal level, holding a variety of key management and trade positions.
Director McGurk began his career in 1988 as a Customs Import Specialist in El Paso. He was promoted to Financial Advisor and Program Manager for the West Texas/New Mexico Customs Management Center in 1995, and then accepted a promotion to Supervisory Import Specialist at the Port of Dallas/Fort Worth in 2002. He was promoted to Fines, Penalties, and Forfeiture Office (FPFO) in El Paso in July 2008 and then to the Assistant Port Director (APD) for Trade at the Houston Service Port May 2011.
Mr. McGurk earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at El Paso and a Master’s Level Certificate in Customs and International Trade from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
