Before 2012, David always lived in landlocked states and countries, including 23 years in Central Eastern Europe. Since moving to Tillamook County, he has become a leader in the charge to protect Oregon's beaches and pristine nature from contamination. As part of his masters program, he developed an adaptive management plan for microplastics cleanup, empowering local communities to take an active role in keeping their local beaches clean, year after year.
David is a passionate activist for sustainable recycling programs, and devotes countless weekends to recycling education and promotion activities, beach cleanups, and hazardous waste collection events. He is also the mayor of Bay City.
