Carol Daly began her career as one of the first female deputies hired by Sacramento County Sheriff's Department in 1968. She rose through the ranks and in 1999 Sheriff Lou Blanas appointed her as his Undersheriff, the first female to hold that position. In 2001 Governor Gray Davis appointed her to the State Board of Prison Terms where he quickly elevated her to Chairwoman of the Board, the first woman to hold that position.
During her law enforcement career she was given many awards recognizing her achievements. Among them - Officer of the Year in California and International Officer of the Year awarded to her in Birmingham, England.
Carol counts the years working with victims as the most memorable part of her career, making lifelong friends with many of them.
