Rob Papworth

Operations Director at MB92 Group

An English naval architect graduate from Southampton University who has been involved in the industry for over 25 years. In the mid-90s he moved into the field of high-tech composite sailing yacht construction after spending a couple of years working on racing and cruising sailing yachts around the world. After various management roles overseeing the construction of cruising, Volvo Ocean Race and America’s Cup yachts, in 2001 he moved to Compositeworks France to head their technical team. Rob subsequently became a shareholder and during the following 15 years he held several management roles in the company during which Compositeworks established itself as one of the leading refit shipyards in the world with a reputation for high quality and successful delivery times especially in the mega yacht sector. In 2017 Compositeworks merged into the MB92 Group and he now holds the role Operations Director at MB92 La Ciotat. Since 2010 he has been the Chairman of the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group helping to organise the development of standards, trust and processes in the refit sector which led to the formation of the now industry standard Superyacht Refit Contract. He is married with two children and lives in Bandol in the South of France and likes to continue his passion for the sea during his free time cruising in the Mediterranean.
