Steve Woodard is the Assistant Director for Core Facilities at the Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences at Georgia Tech. Steve’s career at Georgia Tech started back in 1993 when he joined the School of Biology as a research technician and teaching lab coordinator. He later became a lab manager in the School of Mechanical Engineering in the Robert M. Nerem lab. In 1997, Steve started managing cores in the Petit Institute with just a couple of pieces of equipment. Today, he manages over 20 people, over 100 instruments valued at over 30 million dollars, facilitates renovation projects with GT Facilities, and oversees the safety program at the Petit Institute in collaboration with HT Environmental Health and Safety. Earlier this year, Steve was the recipient of the Leadership in Action Award by Georgia Tech. Steve earned both B.S. and M.S. degrees in microbiology from the University of Georgia.
