Bio
Robert is a solar energy engineer with 35 years experience with thousands of solar projects in over 40 countries for village mini-grids, chilling, water pumping, water purification.
He joined NMSU in 1989 and was the Southwest Region Solar Experiment Station (SWRES) International Programs Manager where he implemented solar projects, mostly in Latin America. Robert worked in Afghanistan from 2008-2012 as the chief engineer for the USAID Afghanistan Clean Energy Program for Winrock International/NMSU and was responsible for over 1,500 solar installations for schools, clinics, and villages. He retired from NMSU in 2014, but still teaches solar and wind classes for the College of Engineering.
He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic from 1985-1988, where he pioneered the original solar home system concept with Enersol Associates. He worked for Winrock International from 2014-2018 implementing solar projects in Africa and Asia.
Robert is presently implementing the Asian Development Bank’s Solar Photovoltaic Pumping for Agricultural Irrigation Project for the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board and Sheladia. He is a Boardmember of the American Solar Energy Society.
