Growing up in a small town in Southern India, my life revolved around food. Cooking and eating with members of my extended family seemed like a perpetual event. My grandmother was the chef in the household, and I fondly hold many memories of cooking as a family (well, mostly being a sous chef). From a very young age, helping around the kitchen was part of my daily routine. I have always been fascinated with the connection that food brings to celebrations, togetherness, health and beyond. I have worked exclusively in the field of nutrition for more than 20 years now, both in Canada and India. I have a variety of work experience including clinical, community, public health, research, and academia. I am passionate about public health nutrition, health promotion and disease prevention. I am a strong proponent of “food is more than just nutrients”.
