Robert Thompson is an Irish natural history photographer, author, and entomologist specializing in macro photography. He developed a passion for nature during his childhood on a large parkland estate and previously worked in dentistry before focusing on photography.
Robert is known for his detailed and precise images of insects, especially dragonflies, butterflies, and moths. He is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) and the Irish Photographic Federation (FIPF).
For several years, he has been working extensively with NOVOFLEX equipment, including the CASTEL-Micro and CASTEL-M focusing racks, and is an experienced user of these systems. He values the precision and flexibility of NOVOFLEX tools, which allow him to capture high-quality macro images even in challenging field conditions.
Robert has published books such as Close-Up and Macro Photography: Its Art and Fieldcraft Techniques, leads workshops and lectures across Ireland and Europe, and is actively engaged in nature conservation.
