Bio
Sarah Konradi, PLA, ASLA, is a licensed Landscape Architect experienced in working with underserved communities to improve the outdoor built environment to promote and sustain meaningful connections between young children and the natural world. She is the Program Director of the Early Childhood Health Outdoors program at the National Wildlife Federation, Rocky Mountain Regional Center, working across the state of Colorado to improve the quality of outdoor play spaces used by young children and families. Her previous role as Senior Design Associate at the Natural Learning Initiative, College of Design, NC State University, also focused on improving children’s healthy development through design education and technical assistance for the implementation of naturalized outdoor learning environments. She has been involved in the programming and design of a wide range of outdoor spaces, including childcare centers, schools, parks, community centers, public gardens, and other sites around the U.S. Sarah worked for over five years on the development and implementation of the Preventing Obesity by Design program, addressing the obesity epidemic in young children attending childcare by transforming childcare outdoor learning environments (OLEs) into active, productive, best practice demonstration sites. In her free time, Sarah enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors with her husband, two young children, and her sheepdog, Tess.
