Dr. Richard Stanford is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He is also a VP in strategic Consulting Solutions at AESARA, a digital-forward market access agency that designs innovative solutions that enable transformative market access. He is responsible for executing client engagements, operationalizing the digital-forward market access agency model. Prior to joining AESARA, Dr. Stanford spent 21 years in the pharmaceutical industry where he was responsible for developing and leading market access, payer and outcomes evidence strategies for both pipeline and marketed assets in the respiratory and cardiovascular therapy areas for the US market.

Dr. Stanford earned his BS Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He also obtained an MS in Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, where he was a Merck/American College of Clinical Pharmacy Health Outcomes Fellow. He has built an outstanding health outcomes research career and is recognized as an expert in applied outcomes research within the pharmaceutical industry. He has authored over 100 peer reviewed journal publications and was instrumental in the development of the Asthma Control Test, Rhinitis Control Assessment Test and the COPD Treatment Ratio which are clinical and population disease assessment tools.
