Bio
Jane Munga is an Advisor to the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology, Innovation and Youth Affairs (ICTIYA) and an Economic Expert, at the National Communications Secretariat, a policy advisory body for the Ministry of ICTIYA, Kenya. Previously she was a Policy Advisor to the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government and Ministry of Education respectively. Prior to joining mainstream Government Jane was the Coordinator for the Centre for Devolution Studies at the Kenya School of Government and a Principal Lecturer teaching Master of Public Administration. Jane has also taught at the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Alabama both in the USA.
Jane Munga’s education includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science and Government from the University of Alabama, USA; a double master’s in economics and management from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Business Administration from Stillman College in the United States of America.
Jane has a passion for economic transformation of her country Kenya through digital technologies. She currently leads the Governments’ Digital Economy initiatives in the Ministry of ICTIYA and was the lead in development of the Kenya’s Digital Economy Blueprint for Africa. She is also the chair of Kenya’s National Addressing System Taskforce and is involved in various working groups that are developing strategies for youth empowerment and job creation in Kenya. She is a member of Kenya’s Steering Committee on United Nations Generation Unlimited, that supports H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta’s role as a UN Global Youth Champion.
Dr. Munga has also worked in program management with various international organizations such as the International Rescue Committee, New York and United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
