Dr Juliana Chizo Agwu is Deputy Medical Director and Consultant Paediatrician in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust She is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer/MBChB Deputy Admissions Tutor at University of Birmingham Medical School. She is currently a member of Panel of Expert Advisers for the NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) centre for Guidelines and Vice Chair at NICE Diabetes Update committee responsible for updating National Diabetes guidelines in UK. She is the Immediate Past National Chairman of the Association of Children’s Diabetes Clinicians UK. A senior MRCPCH examiner, member of the MRCPCH Exam board and was the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Principal Regional Examiner for West Midlands. She is currently ISPAD (International society for Paediatric and adolescent diabetes) adviser for Africa, previously a member of the ISPAD Advisory council and immediate past chair of ISPAD Education committee. Her Research has focused on, Diabetes in schools, Clinical care of children and young people with diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, and Medical Education. She is passionate about Teaching and empowering young people to reach for the skies.
