Bio
Dr Mian N Riaz is the Director of the Process Engineering R&D Center (formally Food Protein R&D Centre), Head of Extrusion Technology Program, Professor of Food Diversity in Nutrition and Food Science Department and graduate faculty in the Nutrition and Food Science Department at Texas A&M University, USA.
He joined the center 26years ago, after completing his PhD in Food Science from the University of Maine at Orono, Maine.
Hewas the first PhD graduate of their Food Science department. His first academic appointment was in 1992 at Texas A&M University (TAMU), where he was put in charge of the Food and Feed Extrusion Program and went on to become the head of the Extrusion Program and a member of the Graduate Faculty in the Food Science and Technology Program.
Since 2005, he has been serving as the Director of the Process Engineering R&D Center. He has published six books, 22 chapters and more than 100 papers on extrusion and other related topics. Three of his books are in the area of extrusion, ‘Extruders in Food Application’, ‘Extruders and Expanders in Pet Food’ and‘Aquatic and Livestock Feeds and Extrusion ProblemsSolved’. One of his books is in the area of Soy Application in Foods.
Dr Riaz is a frequent speaker at international and national conferences and meetings and so far he has delivered more than 300presentations in 60countries. Every year he organises five short courses in the area of extrusion. Three of these courses are related to feed and two are related to food extrusion.
