Part of Matt's m role since 2016 has been the electrification of the Council’s fleet. Nottingham now has 243 EVs which is over half their fleet and that includes the first fully electric sweeper, cage tipper, minibus and bin lorry in the country as well as the first dedicated ULEV garage to service them.
Nottingham City Council won the GreenFleet award for Public Sector Commercial Fleet of the Year in 2022 in recognition of their continued dedication to fleet decarbonisation.
Matt is always keen to talk to other public sector organisations about how they can electrify their own fleet, developing a public sector EV procurement framework and shared fleet network. He is now looking at how to maximise the benefit of the electric fleet; from the creation of a “micro-grid” to PV EVs and battery refurbishment.
