Johannes Rusch is the co-founder and Managing Director of optolux lichttechnik GmbH, based in Hasliberg Reuti, Switzerland. Together with his father, biologist Dr. Volker Rusch, he developed the idea of creating high-precision lighting systems for macrophotography—originally inspired by the challenge of photographing alpine flora in greater detail. Between 2017 and 2019, the first prototypes were built in collaboration with the Institute for Technical Optics at the University of Stuttgart, followed by a finalized design in 2020. Under Johannes’s leadership, optolux has since introduced the SOLIS product line—lighting systems that deliver up to 160,000 lux in a sharply focused spot, enabling new possibilities in forensics, quality inspection, and art.
