Michael Weekes is a PhD student at the University of Sheffield researching applications of muon tomography in the nuclear and energy sectors, primarily through simulation studies. Specifically, his past research includes the development of techniques to combine muon scattering tomography of heterogeneous waste packages with machine learning for enhanced material identification. Currently, he is focused on assessing the potential of muon radiography/attenuation tomography as a complementary technique for design information verification of geological waste repositories.
