Judge MacKenzie is an award-winning judicial educator who has written and presented on a broad range of issues including procedural fairness, veteran’s treatment courts, domestic violence, and court media relations. He has served as the president of the American Judges Association and the Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals. He was honored to be the American Bar Association/National Highway Traffic Safety Association 2008 - 2010 Judicial Fellow. He has been honored by the Foundation for the Improvement of Justice with the Paul H. Chapman medal for significant contributions to the American Criminal Justice System and by the American Judges Association’s Elliott Zide award for significant contributions to judicial education.
