Colin is a chartered accountant who moved into sales, then marketing, then general management and then fleet and motor finance consultancy. He has spent 40 years in fleet management and motor finance and is the author of eight books on leasing and fleet management including the textbook ‘Managing Your Company Cars’.
Colin has been:
• Chief Accountant of Lease Plan UK (part of the largest European vehicle leasing group)
• Chief Financial Officer of Armco Europe Finance
• General Manager of PKfinans International
• Director and General Manager of Commercial Union Vehicle Finance and Fleet Motor
Management
• Corporate Finance Director of BNP Paribas Humberclyde, a major UK leasing house.
• Managing Director of AT&T Automotive Services (Citigroup)
• Non-executive director of carbon heroes
• An independent management consultant working on a variety of projects relating to the management of vehicle fleets, including cost reduction, strategic planning, product development, system selection and implementation, revenue development, raising finance and mentoring chief executives.
Colin is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Accountant. He also holds a Masters Degree in Finance and Accounting from the London School of Economics (University of London), is a fellow of the Institute of Car Fleet Management and a member of the International Asset Finance Network hall of fame.
For five years he was chairman of the training committee of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association, a member of its leasing and fleet management committee and a member of the Motor Finance Management Committee of the Finance & Leasing Association.
He speaks frequently at leasing-related seminars and conferences, has had monthly columns in ‘LeasingLife’, ‘Fleet Management’, ‘Asset Finance International’, ‘Automotive Messenger’, ‘Fleet Leasing’, ‘Fleet Week’ and ‘Motor Finance’ magazines and currently has regular articles ‘Fleet News’ and ‘Fleet World’.
His work at University of Buckingham included research into the vehicle leasing and fleet management markets.
