Chrissie is a solicitor in Holmes & Hills' Legal 500 recommended Construction Department, who provides advice on construction contracts and construction contract disputes. Before qualifying, Chrissie spent two years working as a trainee solicitor alongside the firm's construction solicitors and is therefore well versed in Construction Law.
Chrissie works with contractors, sub-contractors, contract and project managers, quantity surveyors, and architects to ensure clients’ commercial interests are protected when entering, exiting, or disputing construction contracts in situations where:
- Projects are delayed
- Defective works are identified or argued
- Payments are disputed
- Adjudication claims are being issued, defended, or enforced
- Drafting and amending contracts
- Delivering training to clients
Chrissie has led numerous adjudications and enforcement proceedings whereby she successfully recovered monies owed to clients in a payment dispute. She offers down-to-earth legal advice that reflects the commercial realities of construction projects. As a result of her success, Chrissie has recently been seconded by a large contractor to attend its office one day per month and provide live advice on current and future projects.
Chrissie also carries out non-contentious work including:
- Drafting bespoke contracts
- Reviewing contracts prior to clients agreeing to the terms and explaining/advising on their contractual obligations in more digestible language
- Alongside the Construction Department, providing training to clients in navigating Construction Law to protect their businesses
