Bio
Robin co-manages BVS’s technical approach to waste management from build, through life, to final decommissioning. This includes training and technical support to the BVS global team of more than 80 Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) experts. Robin has recently verified three yards for compliance with the EU Regulations for ship recycling and waste management as well as support for a fourth facility in the Middle East. Several other similar projects are in the pipeline.
He provides environmental consultancy for ships, offshore assets, and land-based facilities, and this includes health, safety and environmental impact studies, with additional focus on the downstream handling of waste.
He has attended IMO MEPC since 2003 and was the IACS Representative on Ship Recycling from 2007 until 2014, providing extensive support to the development of the Hong Kong Convention guidelines. In April 2024, Robin worked with the IMO as an international ship recycling expert as part of the SENSREC Phase III mission in Bangladesh and was also employed as an independent consultant for the IMO SENSREC mission to Pakistan (May 2025). He presently attends other IMO committees and sub committees on behalf of ISO in his role as ISO Ship and Marine Technology Technical Committee Director for Safety and Security, and vice chairman of the RINA IMO Committee.
Robin’s varied career has seen him act as Project Manager for all Statutory and Certification items for new construction for numerous passenger cruise ships (including P&O Princess and QM2), and as a lead Surveyor for existing ship survey, repair, statutory and Port State Control work.
