Douglas is a Managing Associate in Simmons’ Contentious Regulatory, Competition and Crime group and specialises in complex, high value, disputes including litigation, regulatory investigations and internal investigations.
He acts for clients across a range of sectors, notably in banking, investments, commodities, and fintech. Recent work includes acting for the defendant to a £1.5bn civil fraud claim in PCP Capital Partners LLP v Barclays Bank plc, for a claimant in SPAC litigation and for a firm subject to a regulatory investigation into fintech. Douglas is used to handling regulatory proceedings in parallel with civil claims and has spent time in-house in a litigation and investigations role for a leading global financial institution.
Douglas has a particular focus on fintech disputes and is a member of Simmons’ cross-border fintech group. He is also a member of the firm’s Race to Recovery group, focused on guiding clients through and beyond the COVID pandemic.
